Science of Fantasy Football Lab
Each week, I will provide a brief update on each team, including the latest injury concerns and performance highlights from the past week. This will also include recommendations for possible waiver wire pickups and suggested FAAB bids. FAAB bids and availability will be based on the FPPC $1000 bankroll. Week eight is in the books. Let’s reason backward to look forward for all 32 teams. Players mentioned as possible waiver wire additions are available in at least 6% of FPPC leagues at this time. At this time of the season, it always pays to double-check the free agents, as team managers often need to cut to make room for a bye-week starter at another position.
Arizona Cardinals
Trey McBride is a machine this season, with 8 out of 9 games in double figures and 3 of 9 games with 20 or more PPR points: that’s WR production from a TE.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Atlanta Falcons
Darnell Mooney is an excellent illustration of why I don’t draft ordinary WRs. He had nine targets but only 2 PPR points, and he has not scored 10 or more points once this season.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Baltimore Ravens
Last season, Derrick Henry had eight games with 20 or more PPR points, but this year, he has only 6 of 9 games over 10 PPR points and only one game over 20. Is Father Time gaining on the King?
Possible Waiver Addition: RB Keaton Mitchell is worth a $1 holler this week, and he is available in 29% of FPPC leagues.
Buffalo Bills
The WR Room has produced a total of 11 double-digit games in PPR points this season, but only two games over 20 points. In contrast, the LAR duo of Nacua and Adams has 9 20+ point games. Could you imagine Josh Allen with an elite WR?
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Carolina Panthers
After 10 games, Tetairoa McMillan has posted an MVP Index of 70. Out of the 282 WRs that have been active since 2020, only 29 have posted an MVP Index over 70 in their rookie season.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Chicago Bears
The weather was awful on Sunday, with wind speeds exceeding 30mph, but Rome Odunze had his best game of the season, demonstrating that great players can find a way to overcome adverse weather conditions.
Possible Waiver Addition: RB Monangai is still worth a $20 bid this week and is available in 17% of FPPC leagues.
Cincinnati Bengals
During their Bye week, if the defense did a trust fall with members of the offense, they might enter a concussion protocol.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Cleveland Browns
The TE Room has seven double-digit PPR point games this season, which is more than their WR room and only two fewer than the RB room.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Dallas Cowboys
Javonte Williams is rated RB16 using my four metrics, is RB8 in total PPR points, and RB9 in points per game, as they enjoyed their bye week off. Not bad for a guy who was drafted RB34 this season.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Denver Broncos
Courtland Sutton has five games with 15 or more PPR points, but three games with five or fewer points, and now he is starting to lose more volume weekly to Troy Franklin.
Possible Waiver Addition: WR Troy Franklin is starting to get WR1 volume and is worth a $100 bid this week, and he is available in 32% of FPPC leagues.
Detroit Lions
They had five players in double-digit PPR points last week for the first time all season. They accomplished this feat twice during the previous season.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers and Eagles played the first scoreless half of NFL football on prime-time television for the first time since most TVs featured rabbit ears.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Houston Texans
Woody Marks has five games this season where he has received 10 or more touches, averaging 14.4 PPG in those games, which would be good enough for RB18 after Week 10.
Possible Waiver Addition: If Woody Marks is still available in your league, you can acquire him for a $100 bid; however, he is only available in 6% of FPPC leagues.
Indianapolis Colts
Daniel Jones is using all his players to perfection. Pittman and Warren lead with seven double-digit PPR games, with Downs and Pierce tied at five double-digit games each.
Possible Waiver Addition: Alex Pierce is only available in 8% of FPPC leagues, but he is a great stash for the rest of the season. You should be able to get him for a low price with a $10 bid this week, since they are on their bye week.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Travis Etienne has five games with 15 or more PPR points this season, which is equal to the “Spike Game” output of James Cook, who was drafted 60 picks earlier in Fantasy Football drafts this season.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Kansas City Chiefs
Coach Andy Reid has a 22-4 lifetime record in the games after his team’s bye.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Las Vegas Raiders
Brock Bowers has only two games over 15 PPR points this season and has four games under 10 points, making him one of the worst TE1 draft picks ever.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers RB Room is showing how, sometimes in Fantasy Football, volume trumps talent. Both Hampton and Vidal now have 3 double-digit PPR point games out of their five games played each.
Possible Waiver Addition: Kimani had a solid bounce-back game and is worth a $100 bid and is still available in 53% of FPPC leagues. TE Oronde Gadsden got hurt last week but seems to have avoided a severe injury. He is worth a $150 bid and is still available in 37% of FPPC leagues.
Los Angeles Rams
Nacua and Adams now have four games this season where they both scored at least 15 PPR points. Matthew Stafford should be getting more attention in the MVP discussion.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Miami Dolphins
Despite the inconsistent QB play, RB De’Von Achane is having a fantastic season with four games over 20 PPR points and every game in double digits.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Minnesota Vikings
It sounded like the boo birds were unhappy with the offense last week.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
New England Patriots
Stefon Diggs has only played 60% or more of the offensive snaps in two games, but has posted an MVP Index of 80, which is typically suitable for a WR22 level, considering his ADP of WR39.
Possible Waiver Addition: If Boutte misses more games, then Kyle Williams is worth a $5 bid, and he is available in 33% of FPPC leagues.
New Orleans Saints
Chris Olave has posted double-digit PPR points in 8 of 10 games this season. His MVP Index of 100 is a WR11 level, which is a nice result for someone whose ADP was WR35.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
New York Giants
Rookie QB Jaxson Dart has posted an MVP Index of 129 since taking over the starting quarterback role, which is currently at the QB4 level this season.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
New York Jets
QB Justin Fields has posted an MVP Index of 150 with Garret Wilson in the lineup, but only 50 without him playing a complete game.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Philadelphia Eagles
DeVonta Smith has outscored AJ Brown in seven of the nine games played so far this season.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Pittsburgh Steelers
DK Metcalf has three games under 10 PPR points this season and three games over 15 PPR points.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
San Francisco 49ers
CMC has posted an MVP index of 170 over the first 10 weeks of the season, which is only 5 points lower than the MVP Index he posted for the whole season back in 2023.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Seattle Seahawks
Jaxson Smith Njigba is having a career year with an MVP Index of 167 after posting a 19 as a rookie and 88 last season.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Rookie WRs Egbuka and Tex both topped 20 PPR points this week. Last year, the entire Buccaneers WR Room posted a total of eight games with 20 points or more for the whole of the season, but the rookies already have five this year.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Tennessee Titans
Rookies typically play better after their Bye week, and this season, the Titans have set the improvement bar very low.
Possible Waiver Addition: WR Chimere Dike is turning into a solid long-range threat for a QB with a live arm. Dike is still worth a $10 bid on FPPC and is available in 65% of leagues.
Washington Commanders
The three-way split of volume by the RB Room weekly has made all three players worthless in Fantasy Football right now.
Possible Waiver Addition: If you are QB needy with the injuries and bye weeks, Marcus Mariota is a solid addition worth a $50 bid and is available in 86% of FPPC leagues.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
QB Marcus Mariota $50
RB Kimani Vidal $100
RB Kyle Monangai $20
RB Keaton Mitchell $1
WR Troy Franklin $100
WR Alec Pierce $10
WR Chimere Dike $10
WR Kyle Williams $5
TE Oronde Gadsden $150
In addition to the players listed above, the players showing up on the NEXT MAN UP INDEX chart are also worthy of adding on waivers this week.
