Science of Fantasy Football Lab
Each week, I will provide a brief update on each team, including the latest injury concerns and performances from the past week. This will also include recommendations for possible waiver wire pickups and suggested FAAB bids. FAAB bids and availability will be based on the FPPC $1000 bankroll. Week four is in the books; let’s reason backward to look forward for all 32 teams.
Arizona Cardinals
Emil Demarcado saw some snaps in the passing game, which could limit the upside for RB Trey Benson.
Possible Waiver Addition: Michael Carter is still worth a $1 to 25$ holler in FPPC leagues where he is available in 100% of leagues. Benson to IR, so consider higher FAAB.
Atlanta Falcons
Penix and the Falcons are showing an incredible home-away split so far this season, but the two most formidable defenses they faced were in road games, and the two easiest defenses were at home.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Baltimore Ravens
Losing Lamar Jackson for several weeks is going to hurt all their players in Fantasy Football.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Buffalo Bills
Keon Coleman is unlikely to become the lead WR every week, and aside from QB Josh Allen and RB James Cook, I will have a hard time trusting anyone else in Fantasy Football from the Bills every week.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Carolina Panthers
Bryce Young might not be the long-term answer at QB, but WR Tetairoa McMillan looks like he will be a solid player for a long time.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams still makes a few silly decisions, but he has come a long way from last year to this year, and the Bears have a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball.
Possible Waiver Addition: RB Monangai is worth a $25 bid this week and is available in 18% of FPPC leagues. He is now the clear backup to Swift.
Cincinnati Bengals
Only an elite QB like Joe Burrow can produce in front of an offensive line this bad, and Jake Browning is not even an average starting QB in the NFL, so it could be rough going forward.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Cleveland Browns
Joe Flacco has been awful, and with a 1-3 start, there is no reason not to give one of the rookie QBs a chance. First up should be Dillon Gabriel. Rookie WR Isaiah Bond not only had his first 5-target game of his career but also scored double-digit PPR points.
Possible Waiver Addition: QB Dillon Gabriel is worth a $40 speculation bid on FPPC this week, where he is available in 80% of leagues. WR Isaiah Bond is worth a $20 bid this week and is available in 86% of leagues.
Dallas Cowboys
Both Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin were involved in the game plan with Cee Dee Lamb out of the lineup last week, but George Pickens will be taking over most of the targets until further notice.
Possible Waiver Addition: Jalen Tolbert is worth a $5 bid and is available in 84% of FPPC leagues. KaVontae Turpin is also worth a $5 bid and is available in 79% of FPPC leagues.
Denver Broncos
After four weeks, it’s obvious the pecking order among WRs is Courtland Sutton as the WR1, with the remainder of the WR targets split evenly between Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims.
Possible Waiver Addition: WR Troy Franklin is a nice $20 bid on FPPC and is available in 33% of leagues.
Detroit Lions
There was a significant drop in volume for RB David Montgomery last week, which was a substantial change from their usual approach once they establish a comfortable lead in games.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Green Bay Packers
Romeo Doubs and Matthew Golden will probably take turns being the lead WR in targets on any given week, but Doubs is taking over the shorter passing target work, which should lead to better consistency.
Possible Waiver Addition: RB Emmanuel Wilson is the clear backup to Josh Jacobs, and you should be able to acquire him for $1 before their Bye week, as he is available in 86% of FPPC leagues.
Houston Texans
The volume switch to rookie RB Woody Marks took place in week four, and he was up to the task. If you did land him on your roster, he is now a safe start every week when he is healthy.
Possible Waiver Addition: If Woody Marks is available in your league, he is worth a $150 bid on FPPC, but he is only available in 8% of leagues right now
Indianapolis Colts
After a magical start to the first three weeks of the season, Dan “Indiana” Jones faced his temple of doom in a solid Rams defense and turned the ball over twice in their first loss of the season.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Jacksonville Jaguars
Last year, WR Brian Thomas had 12 games of 60 or more receiving yards, but only five of those games came with QB Trevor Lawrence in his nine starts before getting hurt.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Kansas City Chiefs
WR Xavier Worthy played well with his injured shoulder, and the Chiefs' offense seemed energized from the first snap, with the most points scored in two years.
Possible Waiver Addition: WR Tyquan Thornton is worth a $10 bid and is available in 60% of leagues.
Las Vegas Raiders
Rookie RB Ashton Jeanty almost doubled his season total for yards in one game in week four.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Los Angeles Chargers
After losing veteran RB Najee Harris to injury, the Chargers have given rookie RB Omarion Hampton the reins to this offense with a total of 42 touches in the past 2 weeks.
Possible Waiver Addition: The next man up at RB appears to be second-year man Kimani Vidal, but he will only see significant volume if something happens to Hampton. He is worth a $1 holler in FPPC leagues. TE Oronde Gadsden is worth a $40 bid and is available in 42% of FPPC leagues.
Los Angeles Rams
The answer is yes; the Rams offense can support two top 12 WRs in Fantasy Football this season.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Miami Dolphins
An ugly knee injury to veteran WR Tyreek Hill will end his season and reshuffle the deck for volume with the Dolphins offense the rest of the season. TE Darren Waller looked great in his debut for the Fins.
Possible Waiver Addition: Malik Washington is a nice $45 bid this week on FPPC leagues with the injury to Tyreek Hill and is available in 48% of FPPC leagues. Darren Waller is worth a $75 bid and is available in 48% of FPPC leagues.
Minnesota Vikings
WR Jordan Addison had a strong first game after his suspension, and the Vikings' offense looked rejuvenated.
No Waiver Targets This Week
New England Patriots
Trying to forecast the RB volume week to week will drive Fantasy Football Managers crazy!
No Waiver Targets This Week
New Orleans Saints
Productive game from Kendre Miller makes me wonder when Alvin Kamara gets dealt to a contender.
Possible Waiver Wire Addition: Kendre Miller is worth a $50 bid on FPPC but is only available in 10% of leagues right now.
New York Giants
Season-ending injury to WR Malik Nabers could lead to more volume for RB Cam Skattebo and TE Theo Johnson, and finally make Jalin Hyatt worthy of being on a Fantasy Football roster.
Possible Waiver Addition: Jalin Hyatt is worth a $10 bid and stash on FPPC.
New York Jets
The Jets’ offense is a 767 with Fields and a Glider without Fields at QB.
Possible Waiver Addition: Isiah Davis is a nice $10 bid and stash with the injury to Braelon Allen on IR.
Philadelphia Eagles
If AJ Brown has one more bad week, he will be showing up on milk bottles in the greater Philadelphia area.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Pittsburgh Steelers
Kenneth Gainwell was the next man up with Jaylen Warren missing a week, which highlights how far the rookies have fallen out of favor.
Possible Waiver Addition: RB Kenneth Gainwell is worth a $50 bid and is available in 45% of FPPC leagues
San Francisco 49ers
The injury issues at WR have become so severe that people are speculating about Kendrick Bourne and Skyy Moore again. Purdy may not play fyi.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Seattle Seahawks
Zach Charbonnet is getting goal-line carries, and the volume in the passing game is making KW3 owners think it could be a very long season.
Possible Waiver Addition: Rookie WR Tory Horton is worth a $10 bid in FPPC leagues and is available in 31% leagues right now.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Chris Godwin saw 10 targets in his first week back and should be a nice 1-2 combo with rookie WR Emeka Egbuka. Bucky, in a walking boot, may not be able to play.
Waiver Target. Sean Tucker for a $1
Tennessee Titans
Elic Ayomanor is the lead WR now with this team, but their lack of production right now makes it challenging to start any Titans with confidence.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Washington Commanders
Injuries at QB and WR, along with uncertainty regarding the RB volume, make this a tough team to forecast until Daniels returns.
No Waiver Targets This Week
QB Dillon Gabriel $40
RB Woody Marks $150
RB Kenneth Gainwell $50
RB Kyle Monangai $25
RB: Michael Carter $25
RB Isiah Davis $10
