Science of Fantasy Football Lab
Each week, I will provide a brief update on each team, including the latest injury concerns and performances over the past week. This will also include recommendations for potential waiver-wire pickups and suggested FAAB bids. FAAB bids and availability will be based on a FPPC $1,000 bankroll. Week six is in the books. Let’s reason backward to look forward for all 32 teams. Players mentioned as possible waiver wire additions are available in at least 6% of FPPC leagues at this time. This time of the season, it always pays to double-check the free agents, because team managers often must cut to make room for a bye-week starter at another position.
Arizona Cardinals
The dreaded RB split is set, and it will diminish the weekly value of both Michael Carter and Bam Knight.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Atlanta Falcons
If you spent that 1.01 pick on Bijan Robinson instead of Chase, you are flying as high as the Falcons right now. With injuries at WR, the volume from the WR2 and WR3 is switching to TE and RB, so no values to be scooped up in the ATL WR Room.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens need Lamar back fast, or their season will be history. Whoever thought Cooper Rush was the right fit for this team’s backup QB deserves to be flogged.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Buffalo Bills
Will the Bills make a move for a veteran WR before the trade deadline, and why should it be DJ Moore?
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Carolina Panthers
Could we have a starting RB controversy when Chuba Hubbard gets back? How many more teams does Rico owe a revenge game for coming up?
Possible Waiver Addition: WR Jalen Coker should come off the board and is worth a $1 holler in FPPC leagues where he is available in 20% of leagues.
Chicago Bears
Remember when so many Fantasy Football analysts were victory lapping the Caleb Williams pick by the Bears as a bad pick? They didn’t go to Cancun on their Bye week; they upgraded the offense and added more rookie ingredients into the mix.
Possible Waiver Addition: RB Monangai is worth a $25 bid this week and is available in 18% of FPPC leagues. He is now the clear backup to Swift.
Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Flacco had 20 of his 40 targets aimed at Chase and Higgins, so it’s obvious the cagey veteran has a good choice in who he targets.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Cleveland Browns
After an outstanding performance in his first start, the Browns thought they had their QB of the future, but after last week, it’s all in doubt again.
Possible Waiver Addition: QB Dillon Gabriel is worth a $50 speculation bid on FPPC this week, where he is available in 77% of leagues. WR Isaiah Bond is worth a $10 bid this week and is available in 60% of leagues.
Dallas Cowboys
Will there be an even volume split for WR touches when Lamb returns? Pickens has been a beast without Cee Dee, and he might take over some of Lamb’s former target share going forward.
Possible Waiver Addition: Jaydon Blue is worth a $50 bid but is only available in 6% of leagues and is only a speculative addition in case something happens to Javonte Williams.
Denver Broncos
14 to 6 volume edge for Dobbins over Harvey last week, so until I see more volume, you can’t play Harvey as a starter yet, and Dobbins has limited value too.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Detroit Lions
Offense hasn’t had that same look on natural turf versus artificial turf most of this season.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Green Bay Packers
Rookie WR Golden got the second-most offensive snaps among the WRs, with only Doubs getting more snaps last week.
Possible Waiver Addition: RB Emmanuel Wilson is the clear backup to Josh Jacobs, and you should be able to get him for $1. He is available in 67% of FPPC leagues.
Houston Texans
Hopefully, rookie RB Woody Marks starts seeing more of the workload after the Texans return from their Bye week to face Seattle on Monday Night Football.
Possible Waiver Addition: If Woody Marks is still available in your league, you can get him for a $50 bid, but he is only available in 8% of FPPC leagues.
Indianapolis Colts
Indiana Jones continues to target the rookie WR Tyler Warren, which has led to some inconsistent weeks for the WRs. Warren’s 40 targets for the season are more than any of the individual WRs after 6 weeks.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Jacksonville Jaguars
WR Brian Thomas Jr has returned to his late 2024 form, so his solid second half was more about a rookie developing than Mac Jones being a better QB for his Fantasy Football production.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Kansas City Chiefs
Mahomes now has an MVP Index for 2025 of 150 after six games; his career best was 153 back in 2022, which was the last time he had solid play at Left Tackle.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Las Vegas Raiders
Rookie RB Ashton Jeanty has seen 20 or more touches in 3 games in a row and in 4 of 6 games this season, and their passing game is missing their star TE.
Possible Waiver Addition: Tre Tucker has been seeing five or more targets in 4 of 6 games, and he has double-digit points in 4 of 6 games this year. Bid $25 on Tucker as a bye and injury replacement, but know you will get the occasional dud game.
Los Angeles Chargers
The next man up at RB was indeed Vidal, who had a terrific start and received 21 touches to Haskins' 7, while Ladd McConkey has reclaimed the WR1 target share in the passing game.
Possible Waiver Addition: Kimani Vidal was still available in 54% of leagues, and he would now cost you a $400 bid, and with Hampton missing more than 4 weeks, that’s a fair price.
Los Angeles Rams
Injuries to Puka Nacua and backup RB Blake Corum will need to be monitored closely this week.
Possible Waiver Additions: WR Jordan Whittington saw 92% of the offensive snaps and will play in 2-WR sets with Adams this week, with Nacua likely to be out. Whittington is a solid $10 bid in FPPC leagues this week and is available in 94% of leagues. Jarquez Hunter would be the next man up to Corum, so he is worth a $1 holler and is available in 37% of leagues.
Miami Dolphins
After some weird press conference statements from Tua last week, it appears this team is ready for a coaching change, but in the meantime, lean into the chaos with some good additions.
Possible Waiver Addition: Malik Washington is a nice $45 bid this week in FPPC leagues, available in 44% of FPPC leagues. Darren Waller is worth a $125 bid but is only available in 18% of FPPC leagues. Ollie Gordon is only available in 21% of FPPC leagues but is worth a $10 bid.
Minnesota Vikings
Very little news during their Bye week about injury updates to their QBs.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
New England Patriots
Not only is Drake Maye turning into an excellent and consistent Fantasy Football quarterback, but those talents are translating well to real football as well.
Possible Waiver Wire Addition: Kayshon Boutte is wildly inconsistent with two spike weeks and 2 weeks under 5 points, but both big games had favorable defensive matchups, and he gets another solid matchup situation this week. He is worth a $10 bid in FPPC leagues where he is available in 64% of leagues.
New Orleans Saints
Spencer Rattler has not posted a single game outside the Top 23 in any week, making him a solid emergency start at QB if injury and bye weeks leave you stumped for a move.
Possible Waiver Addition: QB Spencer Rattler is worth a $1 bid in FPPC leagues and is available in 67% of leagues.
New York Giants
When you not only beat your rival on Thursday Night Football but totally trounce them without your best WR, you know you have had a fantastic week.
Possible Waiver Addition: Lil’ Jordan Humphrey, who is the perfect larger target as a contrast to Wan’ Dale, earned eight targets in his first start. With another week to prepare, he might be the second-best option at WR as we advance. He is worth a $25 bid and is available in all leagues right now.
New York Jets
Justin Fields is giving us a great example of the difference between a solid QB in Fantasy Football versus real football, but last week, he was bad at both.
Possible Waiver Addition: Isiah Davis is a nice $10 bid in case anything happens to Breece Hall and is available in 51% of FPPC leagues.
Philadelphia Eagles
Is anyone happy in Philly? After losing to the lowly Giants on National Television, the sports radio talk was somewhat spicy. Maybe this is why it’s so hard to repeat as Champion, because of the egos.
No Waiver Targets This Week
Pittsburgh Steelers
As the famous Chinese philosopher Sun Tzu once said, “If your opponent appears to be stronger, deploy 27 men of the tight ends to counter them.” The correct answer to who might emerge as the WR2 with Austin out is nobody.
Possible Waiver Addition: RB Kenneth Gainwell is worth a $50 bid and is available in 48% of FPPC leagues.
San Francisco 49ers
Will the injured WRs and star TE return in time to keep this first-place team first-placing? In the meantime, the Bourne Identity has another sequel.
Possible Waiver Addition: WR Bourne is worth a $50 bid and is available in 59% of FPPC leagues. Isaac Guerrendo is worth a $1 holler stash and is available in 31% of FPPC leagues.
Seattle Seahawks
I would have never guessed that by week six, the answer to the question, “Which SEA RB will be the guy to start in your Fantasy Football league,” that the correct answer might be, “Neither.”
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs have the worst injury luck at WR this season, and now lose their rookie phenom, which makes their top 4 WRs all gone at once.
Possible Waiver Addition: Rookie WR Tez Johnson saw 72% of the offensive snaps but only had one reception. (But it was an 11-point play) He is worth a $25 bid and is available in 95% of FPPC leagues.
Tennessee Titans
The only thing they have really won this week is being the first team to fire their coach, which ironically came just a week after their only win of the season. Until this offense gets turned around, it’s a no-starter zone for Fantasy Football.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
Washington Commanders
Turnovers doomed them in real football on Monday Night, but in Fake Football, Jayden Daniels continues to impress with an early-season MVP Index of 100.
No Waiver Targets This Week.
QB Dillon Gabriel $50
QB Spencer Rattler $1
RB Kimani Vidal $400
RB Woody Marks $50
RB Kenneth Gainwell $50
RB Jaydon Blue $50
RB Kyle Monangai $25
RB Ollie Gordon $10
RB Isiah Davis $10
RB Emmanuel Wilson $1
RB Isaac Guerrendo $1
RB Jarquez Hunter $1
WR Kendrick Bourne $50
WR Malik Washington $45
WR Tez Johnson $25
WR Tre Tucker $25
WR Lil’ Jordan Humphrey $25
WR Kayshon Boutte $10
WR Jordan Whittington $10
WR Isiah Bond $10
WR Jalen Coker $1
TE Darren Waller $125
Every week, this list will adjust based on the MVP25 of the player above them and their chances for taking over the needed volume. Players owned in 95% or more of FPPC leagues will not be mentioned in the list above, but it’s always a great idea to see what players your league mates have dropped during the Bye weeks.
