The Positional Usage Index through Week 8 shows clear structural patterns that have held with only modest movement.
Extreme High-WR / Low-TE Teams (Sticky)
TEN: WR scale 100, TE 12, Balance 52.2 — highest WR concentration
PHI: WR 99, TE 14, Balance 51.7
CLE: WR 92, TE 10, Balance 44.1
DAL: WR 87, TE 12, Balance 40.1
These teams continue to operate with elevated WR on-field averages (2.62–2.74) and suppressed TE usage. The structure has remained consistent across the full sample; recent weeks have not produced material regression in the top group.
Extreme High-TE
LV: TE scale 100 (on-field 2.05), Balance 55.0 — still the clearest outlier
LAR: TE 75
BUF: TE 74
LV’s TE volume remains the league's largest positional concentration. LAR and BUF sit in a secondary tier of elevated TE usage.
Balanced / Lower-Concentration Teams
Teams such as SEA, CIN, KC, and DET continue to post the lowest Balance scores, reflecting more even distribution across RB/WR/TE on-field averages. These teams show smaller week-to-week positional swings.
Recent Movement (W6–7 window relative to earlier weeks)
Largest WR share gains: SEA, BAL, CLE, CIN, IND
Largest TE share gains: TB, DET, LAR, NE, CAR, ARI
Largest RB share gains: MIA, SF, PIT
High-WR teams (PHI, TEN, DAL) largely held or slightly increased their WR share rather than reverting toward the mean. High-TE outlier LV remained stable.
Key Observations
High-WR / low-TE structure is sticky through eight weeks. The top four (TEN, PHI, CLE, DAL) have not shown meaningful regression.
LV remains the dominant high-TE outlier with limited movement.
Balanced teams exhibit the smallest positional deltas, consistent with more even personnel usage.
RB concentration varies week to week more than WR or TE concentration in most teams.
