Preseason Week 2 – August 20–23, 2026
The GSPI (Game Script Predictive Index) attempts to project passing and rushing levels to help with team and player prop understanding.
This week’s 16-game preseason slate features every NFL team in action as clubs continue roster evaluations, joint practices, and depth assessments following Week 1.
With the regular season still three weeks away, many projected starters are expected to see limited or no snaps, shifting volume and opportunity toward second- and third-string players.
Betting lines remain compressed relative to regular-season norms, reflecting the exhibition nature of the contests and weather that is mostly neutral across outdoor venues.
Across the slate, the majority of projected Week 1 starters are expected to be held out or limited to a handful of series after joint practices. Confirmed or highly likely DNPs among key skill players include most first-team offensive lines and primary RBs/WRs on both sides in the larger-spread games (Denver, Detroit, Tampa Bay, Tennessee).
Houston / Las Vegas: Second- and third-string RBs and WRs projected for heavy mid-to-late game volume.
Denver / Green Bay: Packers backups (including depth RBs and TEs) expected to handle the bulk of offensive snaps under a projected negative script.
Detroit / Washington: Lions second-team skill players and Commanders depth backs/receivers.
Indianapolis / Atlanta: Colts have indicated most starters will sit; Riley Leonard and second-string skill players projected for significant first-half and overall volume.
Tampa Bay / Kansas City: Buccaneers depth and Chiefs backups (especially RBs and perimeter receivers) in a projected lopsided script.
Tennessee / Seattle: Titans second string and Seahawks depth players under a strong home-script environment.
Other contests follow the same pattern—starters largely protected, creating elevated snap shares for primary backups and developmental players.
Strong/Mild Positive Script Effects
RBs: Elevated rush attempts and goal-line opportunities (especially backups inheriting volume).
QBs: Reduced pass volume and lower fantasy ceilings.
WR/TE: Mildly suppressed target volume; higher efficiency possible on fewer opportunities.
Neutral Script Effects
Balanced volume distribution with limited directional bias for any position group.
Strong/Mild Negative Script Effects
RBs: Suppressed rush volume and fewer high-value carries.
QBs: Elevated pass attempts and potential for higher volume props.
WR/TE: Increased target opportunities, particularly for primary and secondary receiving options among the backups.
Prioritize players projected for significant snaps whose team GSPI aligns with the prop direction (positive-script RBs or negative-script pass-catchers). Discount starters expected to rest. Weight weather and dome environments only when extreme. Prefer higher-conviction angles in games with Strong Positive/Negative labels and medium-to-high script confidence.
Backup RBs on Denver, Detroit, Tampa Bay, and Tennessee under Strong Positive scripts.
Second-string pass-catchers and QBs on Green Bay, Washington, Kansas City, and Seattle under Strong Negative scripts.
Mid-game volume RBs and WRs in the Houston–Las Vegas and Indianapolis–Atlanta contests where starters are heavily rested.
Denver Broncos (Strong Positive): Expected +18–22% rush-volume multiplier and corresponding reduction in pass rate.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Strong Positive): Expected +16–20% rush-volume multiplier.
Detroit Lions (Strong Positive): Expected +15–19% rush-volume multiplier.
Green Bay Packers (Strong Negative): Expected +18–22% pass-volume multiplier and suppressed rush share.
Kansas City Chiefs (Strong Negative): Expected +16–20% pass-volume multiplier.
Seattle Seahawks (Strong Negative): Expected +15–19% pass-volume multiplier.
