2026 Fantasy Football Lab is Open for Business
The GSPI (Game Script Predictive Index) attempts to envision the levels of passing and rushing for team and player prop understanding.
This slate is treated in SCRIPT-PRIMARY mode: Week 1 of the regular season with expected starters in place, so live spreads, implied totals, and quarterback units drive labels ahead of rest-driven personnel swings.
Week 1 opens Wednesday with a Super Bowl LX rematch (Patriots at Seahawks), continues Thursday with the league’s first regular-season game in Australia (49ers vs. Rams at Melbourne Cricket Ground), and closes Monday night in Kansas City. Primetime games: SEA-NE (Wed/NBC), SF-LAR (Thu/Netflix, neutral site), DAL at NYG (SNF), DEN at KC (MNF). Cutdowns are complete. Notable return/availability items: Patrick Mahomes is expected but coming off ACL/LCL reconstruction; Daniel Jones is back from Achilles; Michael Penix Jr. is inactive with Tua Tagovailoa starting in Atlanta; Alvin Kamara is out (MCL); Josh Jacobs is out; TreVeyon Henderson has missed practice with an ankle injury. Weather tails: Jacksonville heat near 90s at kickoff; a rain chance in Philadelphia. Offensive EPA/play figures below are 2025-season marks and are not treated as live-unit ratings where the 2026 starter or supporting cast differs.
Notes on flags: Jets RB1 Breece Hall is questionable (Limited). Cardinals RB1 Jeremiyah Love is working back from a high-ankle sprain (Limited). Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is expected to start but is nine months removed from ACL/LCL reconstruction and was not fully cleared through the preseason (Limited). Saints RB1 Alvin Kamara is out (MCL), but the team QB is expected to play; the rest flag remains Full at the team-starter level, with the RB absence captured in personnel notes. Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. is expected to be DNP; Tua Tagovailoa is the live starter.
Strong labels are reserved for DET, JAX, and LAC, where the live spread and implied-total gap support a realistic two-score environment with expected starting quarterbacks. PHI’s −5.5 is capped at Mild Positive. KC is capped at Mild Positive and Low confidence because Mahomes’ Week 1 clearance, while expected, is not a locked full-speed unit. LV’s Mild Positive is Low confidence because 2025 EPA does not describe the Cousins-led live offense.
Sixteen-game slate: compressed for all games; expanded for Strong-label and High-confidence games plus heavy-rest/return units (DET, JAX, LAC, NO, ATL, KC, GB, NE RB, ARI RB, NYJ RB).

KC: QB Patrick Mahomes expected (Limited flag); Justin Fields is the named backup if clearance fails; RB Kenneth Walker III bulk. Snap window: Mahomes bulk if active, with reduced scramble package; Fields inherits if DNP.
DEN: QB Bo Nix; RB expected starter bulk. Full snaps.
Personnel outranks a conflicting script only where a locked starter is out (Kamara, Jacobs, Penix) or a Week 1 return is not a full-speed unit (Mahomes, Jones mobility, Love ankle).
Strong / Mild Positive
RB: Elevated carry share, early-down work, and goal-line looks. Rushing-yard and rushing-TD overs are the cleanest script-aligned props. Reception floors can shrink if the offense stays on schedule.
QB: Passing attempts and passing yards often compress unless the offense is pass-first by design. Rushing-yard props for dual-threat QBs can still clear if designed keepers remain. Passing-TD overs need a high implied total, not script alone.
WR/TE: Target volume can sag in a one-score-or-better lead. Red-zone TEs and WR1s retain TD equity; WR2/WR3 volume is the first cut.
Neutral
RB/QB/WR-TE: League-average attempt mix. Props should be driven by role and matchup, not script. Do not pay a script premium.
Strong / Mild Negative
RB: Carry counts fall; passing-down backs and checkdown volume rise. Rushing-yard unders and reception overs are the typical pair.
QB: Dropbacks and passing-yard overs gain equity, especially if the implied total still supports scoring. INT and sack risk also rise. Dual-threat rushing can vanish if the team is throwing from behind.
WR/TE: Route volume and target share increase. WR2/slot and TE checkdowns benefit first; deep shots depend on the live QB.
Apply GSPI direction only to players confirmed or highly likely to play meaningful series. Discount any prop tied to a locked starter expected to rest. This week is SCRIPT-PRIMARY, so script takes priority over snap-share debates for healthy starters; when a starter is out or Limited, snap share still comes first. Prefer Strong labels only when Confidence is Medium or High. Weather is a secondary adjustment — Jacksonville heat can trim late-game pace; a Philadelphia rain chance can nudge the Eagles toward Barkley.
Jahmyr Gibbs, DET, Strong Positive, bulk RB snaps with Goff and the starters intact.
Omarion Hampton, LAC, Strong Positive, bulk early-down snaps with Herbert and a two-score implied gap.
Trevor Lawrence, JAX, Strong Positive, bulk QB snaps in a home blowout-script spot versus Cleveland.
Jared Goff, DET, Strong Positive, starter snaps with a 28.25 implied total and Saints trailing script.
Saquon Barkley, PHI, Mild Positive, bulk RB snaps; rain chance is a secondary rush lean.
Derrick Henry, BAL, Mild Positive, bulk early-down snaps on the road as a 3.5-point favorite.
Chris Olave, NO, Strong Negative, bulk WR1 routes with Kamara out and a pass-leaning deficit script.
MarShawn Lloyd, GB, Neutral, bulk early-down snaps with Josh Jacobs Out.
De’Von Achane, MIA, Mild Negative team script but locked RB1 snaps with Willis; treat as role-first, not Strong.
Justin Herbert, LAC, Strong Positive, bulk QB snaps; passing volume may compress if the Chargers sit on the lead — prefer rushing/TD-adjacent angles over raw attempt overs.
Three strongest positive-script teams
Los Angeles Chargers — Strong Positive, High — Rush ×1.22 / Pass ×0.82
Jacksonville Jaguars — Strong Positive, High — Rush ×1.20 / Pass ×0.84
Detroit Lions — Strong Positive, High — Rush ×1.18 / Pass ×0.86
Three strongest negative-script teams
Arizona Cardinals — Strong Negative, High — Rush ×0.78 / Pass ×1.20
Cleveland Browns — Strong Negative, High — Rush ×0.80 / Pass ×1.18
New Orleans Saints — Strong Negative, High — Rush ×0.82 / Pass ×1.16
Blowout Watch
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Commanders: the −5.5 spread was capped at Mild under the two-score rule, but a Commanders road miss plus rain could stretch this past the headline six.
Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers: Tua starting with Penix inactive is a live-unit downgrade that can widen a modest 3.5-point number.
No additional game currently outranks the three headline Strong sides on implied-total gap.
